I am sitting in a cafe of a library. Need to do something new. Something I haven't done before. During the third cup of coffee comes into a mind memories from childhood. What every normal boy has always wanted to have. Of course his own Robot.
I had some experience about electronics very many years ago. The result of my experiments were usually smoking transistors. So, I decided electronics is not my thing.
What have changed from that time?
- Electronics has been developed. There are micro controllers and one does not need to do everything by himself.
- I don't have to count every cent.
- I have more time.
- My working routines have been developed a lot since that (hopefully).
- There is Internet full of information and people with same interests.
It would be nice to make something useful. What could a robot (made by a total amateur) to do?
Perhaps some kind of guard while nobody is at home?
That's it!
What a guard robot should be able to do?
- It can be controlled remotely via Internet.
- It sends video and audio data via Internet.
- It alarms when somebody is entering a room. The message will be send to my mobile phone.
- It can move independently in a flat from point A to point B and go around objects.
So, let's see what we have. A man, who has no experience of electronics neither building anything else. He wants to build quite a sophisticated robot.
